華盛頓時間2024年2月6日，美國國家工程院發(fā)布2023年度國家工程院增補院士名單，共有114名院士和21名外籍院士入選，上海交通大學船舶海洋與建筑工程學院1987屆校友夏志永入選。

夏志永，蘋果公司杰出工程師兼硬件工程總監(jiān)，1987年在上海交通大學獲得船舶與海洋工程及計算機科學雙學位學士，1992年、1994年獲得哈佛大學工程科學碩士和博士學位。1995年加入福特汽車公司研究與創(chuàng)新中心擔任技術專家，其后成為負責汽車材料、制造和仿真技術研究開發(fā)的技術總監(jiān)。2014年加盟蘋果公司，領導產(chǎn)品仿真和機器學習的研發(fā)，支持 iphone、ipad、mac、apple watch、airpod、vision pro 和未來革命性產(chǎn)品的設計制造。研發(fā)領域涉及力學、材料、制造和模擬。在汽車和消費電子行業(yè)的30年職業(yè)生涯中，他在許多領域做出了貢獻。夏志永長期擔任公司和專業(yè)協(xié)會的領導職務。已發(fā)表100余篇學術論文，編輯/共同編輯了7本技術書籍/期刊/會議合集，擁有25項專利和2項商業(yè)機密。

夏志永是美國國家工程院院士、制造工程學會（sme）會士。他曾獲sae亨利·福特二世杰出獎（2005年）、sae/aisi 悉尼·h·墨爾本獎（2009 年）、sae 福雷斯特·r·麥克法蘭德獎（2011 年）、asme 杰出服務獎（2013 年）、stle 界面工程最佳論文獎（2014 年）以及三次福特公司的最高榮譽亨利·福特技術獎（2005、2009、2011 年）。

election to the national academy of engineering is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. academy membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to "engineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature" and to "the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering,or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education.

individuals in the newly elected class will be formally inducted during the nae's annual meeting on sept. 29, 2024.
